3. Manufacturing Grew in October

After 18 months of earlier contraction, U.S. manufacturing has grown for the past three months. In fact, October saw the fastest rate of growth in over three years.

Greater manufacturing implies that businesses have increased orders and are gearing up for stronger overall sales, showing a confidence that the recovery will not be short-lived.

In addition, a survey by the Institute of Supply Management in October asked employers around the globe if they were hiring or firing. The results: only 6 countries are expanding their workforces but one of them is the United States. When more companies are hiring than firing, a country’s score goes above 50 and the United States came in at 53.1, surpassed only by China and Taiwan.
