What’s the most useful thing you can bring to a far-away convention? A pre-filled-out Fed-Ex label. At every show I’ve attended, I’ve come away with a pile of handouts, reading materials, menus, press kits, and random trinkets, not to mention a happily full stomach. That stuff gets heavy and bulky. So rather than lug it all home on the return flight, I mail it to myself at my office or restaurant. Oftentimes that’s been the difference between walking off my flight with my carry-on bag and heading home, and enduring an agonizing wait at baggage claim at the end of an exhausting week.
